Sustrans
Sustrans, the UK’s leading sustainable transport charity, works towards an ambitious vision; a world in which people choose to travel in ways that benefit their health and the environment.
Sustrans will celebrate its 30th anniversary during the visit of the Tour de France to London and Kent, having been founded in Bristol on 7 July 1977.
Sustrans’ flagship project, the National Cycle Network, is now more than 10,000 miles long. More than half the UK population can access the network within one mile of their home. There are nearly 300 miles of cycle route in Kent alone, with 82 miles of it traffic free.
Sustrans has a dedicated band of 2,200 volunteer rangers who work to keep the routes clean, safe and attractive for people to enjoy.
Sustrans has been working with Kent County Council to create a map showing the county’s cycle routes and other attractions. It also shows the route that this year’s Tour de France will take when it travels through the county on Sunday 8 July.
